Central Europe Programme

Urban Water Footprint: a new approach for water management in urban areas

Urban Water Footprint Labs

Urban Water Footprint Labs are the interface between water supply and water demand. The UWF Labs have the ability to continuously assess, evaluate and monitor changing behaviours, policies or technologies of consumers and water suppliers which might have an impact on the demand. Additionally the UWF Labs serve as communication platform and bring together water suppliers and users from various backgrounds and to raise awareness about sustainable water management or consumption. This approach supports the involvement of different stakeholder groups and avoids a top-down approach which may not stress actual challenges and requirements of a city’s water management.
Three Labs will set up and implemented in the course of this project in three different cities across Central Europe: Innsbruck (Austria), Vicenza (Italy), Wroclaw (Poland).
